Central Auckland · 24/7 callout
Drain clearing, camera surveys and repairs across Epsom — and an honest answer about whether the blockage is even yours to pay for.
Blocked Drains Auckland provides drain unblocking, CCTV drain surveys, hydro-jetting, tree root removal and drain repair throughout Epsom, Central Auckland. Villas and bungalows from the 1900s to the 1930s on established, well-treed sections. Drainage here is typically glazed earthenware and concrete, jointed, much of it original. Emergency callout operates 24 hours, 7 days, and we give you a price before work starts.
Epsom is one of the more consistent suburbs we work in, and consistently the same fault: pre-1930s housing on jointed earthenware laterals, under mature gardens and one of Auckland's better-established street canopies. Sections are generous and laterals correspondingly long, which means more joints and more distance for roots to find one. Liquidambar and plane trees along the older streets are the usual suspects.
Typical pipe: Glazed earthenware and concrete, jointed, much of it original.
Local conditions
The dominant finding. Fine root curtains at multiple joints along a run, with the pipe barrel itself still in reasonable order.
More pipe between house and boundary means more joints, and a fault that can sit well away from the house.
Mature planting and driveways make excavation costly, which is why relining is so often the better economic answer here.
Everything below is available across the Central Auckland area, from a single blocked gully through to a relined lateral.
Before you pay anyone
It is worth thirty seconds, because it decides who pays. Everything on your side of the point of supply — internal plumbing, the gully trap outside, and the private lateral out to the connection — is the property owner’s. The public wastewater main is Watercare’s, and they clear blockages on it at no cost to you.
If wastewater is surfacing in the street, or neighbouring Epsom properties have the same problem on the same day, ring Watercare on (09) 442 2222, option 1, before you call a plumber. If only your property is affected, it is almost certainly the private lateral — and that is us.
Liquidambar and plane are the ones we encounter most, along with willow, poplar and large established natives. Worth knowing that the tree does not have to be near the drain — root systems routinely extend well beyond the canopy, and we regularly trace intrusion back to a tree ten or more metres away, often next door or on the berm.
In most cases yes. Relining installs a resin liner inside the existing pipe through existing access points, sealing the joints and cracks that roots enter through without excavating the run. It suits pipe that is cracked or leaking but still structurally continuous — which describes most Epsom earthenware.

Non-urgent work is usually within 1–2 working days. For an active overflow we aim to attend the same day, and our emergency callout runs 24 hours, 7 days including public holidays. Response time depends on where you are and how many jobs are already running — we will give you an honest window.
You get a price before any work starts, not an invoice afterwards. Call and describe the symptoms and we will give you a realistic range over the phone; the firm price is confirmed on site once we can see the access and the drain. See our Auckland cost guide for the ranges.
Tell us what it is doing and we will tell you what it probably is, what it takes to fix, and what that should cost.
