Our team

Who you will actually be dealing with

Small team, mobile, spread across the Auckland region. Here is what each part of it does and what they are licensed to do.

Licensed & certifying drainlayers
24/7 emergency callout, 7 days
Upfront price before work starts
Camera-verified — you see the fault

Blocked Drains Auckland runs as a mobile drainage team: technicians and CCTV operators in the field, licensed drainlayers for restricted work, and a scheduling team who triage incoming jobs. When you book, you are told the name of the person attending before they arrive.

Drainage technicians

The people who turn up. They clear blockages, run the jetter, operate the camera and make the call on site about what a drain actually needs. Restricted drainage work is carried out or supervised under a current PGDB licence.

CCTV survey operators

Running a drain camera is not just pushing a reel down a pipe. Reading what you are looking at — telling a root mass from a fat build-up, a joint displacement from a crack, judging whether a section is worth relining — is the skill that decides whether your money gets spent well.

Certifying drainlayers

Repair, alteration and new drainage is restricted work under the Plumbers, Gasfitters, and Drainlayers Act 2006. It is done or supervised by licensed drainlayers, and the work is certified as complying with the Building Code.

Schedulers and office team

The people who answer the phone at 7am, work out whether your job is an emergency or can wait until Thursday, and make sure the van that arrives has the right gear on it. Most of the value of a callout is decided here.

What we expect of everyone who turns up

Checking credentials yourself

You do not have to take anyone’s word for it, including ours. The Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board keeps a free public register where you can look up any plumber, gasfitter or drainlayer by name or company and see what they are licensed to do. If someone doing restricted drainage work at your property will not give you a name to check, that tells you something.

Working with us

We are usually interested in hearing from experienced drainage technicians, CCTV operators and licensed drainlayers around Auckland, and from apprentices who want to train properly. See careers.
