Referral Marketing Disclosure

We think you should know exactly what happens after you submit an enquiry, and how the business behind this website is paid. This page explains both in plain language.

The short version

Blocked Drains Auckland is a drainage enquiry and marketing service. When you contact us, your job may be carried out by an independent, licensed drainage contractor in our network rather than by an employee of this website, and we may be paid a fee or commission for connecting you. You are never charged more because of that arrangement, and you are always told who is coming.

Why we publish this

The Fair Trading Act 1986 prohibits misleading or deceptive conduct in trade, including creating a false impression about who you are dealing with. A number of trade websites in New Zealand present themselves as a single local crew when they are in fact a marketing operation routing work to third parties. We would rather just tell you.

How it actually works

  1. You call, email, or submit the estimate form on this website.
  2. We talk through the symptoms with you and work out what the job likely needs.
  3. The job is assigned to a drainage contractor who is licensed for that work, available in your area, and equipped for the job — a jetting truck, a drain camera, or an excavator, depending on what is needed.
  4. You are told the name of the business and the person attending before they arrive.
  5. They quote you directly, do the work, and invoice you. Your contract for the physical work is with them.

How we are paid

We may receive a referral fee, a fixed per-job fee, or a percentage commission from the contractor who completes your work. This is paid by the contractor out of their own margin. It is not added to your invoice as a separate line, and it does not increase the price you are quoted.

We do not accept payment to rank one contractor above another where they are equally suited to your job. Assignment is based on licensing, location, equipment and availability.

What we check before a contractor joins the network

You are always entitled to ask to see a licence card on site and to verify it yourself on the Board's public register.

What this means for your rights

Your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 apply to the contractor who supplies the service, and they are not reduced by the referral. If something goes wrong you can raise it with us as well — see our Complaints Policy. We will help resolve it, and we remove contractors from the network where standards are not met.

Reviews and testimonials

Where reviews appear on this site, they are real reviews from real customers, published with permission and not edited to change their meaning. We do not write our own testimonials, we do not buy reviews, and we do not filter out critical feedback. If you cannot see reviews on a page, it is because we do not yet have verified ones to show for that service or suburb — not because they have been hidden.

Photography

Some images on this website are stock or illustrative photography used to show the type of work described, rather than photographs of a specific job we have completed. We do not present stock imagery as a case study or a before-and-after of a real customer's property.
