What happens after you send this

We read it properly and call you back

Usually within a couple of hours during working hours. We will ask a few follow-up questions — which fixtures, whether the gully is overflowing, how old the house is.

You get a price range and a plan

Not a number pulled from the air: a range based on what your symptoms actually indicate, and what we would try first. If we think you need a camera before anyone quotes a repair, we will say so.

You decide whether to book

No pressure and no follow-up sequence. If you want to ring two other drainlayers and compare, that is a sensible thing to do and we will not chase you.

We confirm the firm price on site

Before any work starts, you get the actual price for the actual job. If what we find changes the scope, we stop and re-quote rather than running up an invoice.

Emergencies do not need a form

If a drain is overflowing right now, do not fill this in — call 09 555 6666. Our emergency callout runs 24 hours, 7 days.

Tell us what the drain is doing

The more detail here, the more accurate the estimate — and the more likely we turn up with the right gear the first time.

So we can send the nearest available team.

Estimates and quotes — the honest version

Is the estimate really free?

Yes. Describing your problem and getting a realistic price range costs nothing and puts you under no obligation. We would rather spend ten minutes on the phone than send a van to a job that turns out to be Watercare's.

What is the difference between an estimate and a quote?

An estimate is a realistic price range based on what you have described, given before anyone has seen the drain. A quote is a fixed written price for a defined scope, given after inspection, and valid for 30 days. Drains are underground, so nobody can honestly give a fixed price sight unseen.

Will the price change once you are on site?

The price we agree before starting is the price for that work. If we open the drain and find something materially different — a collapsed section, or a fault on a line we were not asked to look at — we stop, show you, and give you a revised price to approve. You are never charged for work you have not agreed to.

Do you charge to tell me the blockage is not my problem?

No. If the fault turns out to be on the public wastewater main, that is Watercare's responsibility to fix at no cost to you, and we will tell you that rather than doing work you do not need.

Can you give a price for drain repair over the phone?

Only a broad range. Repair and relining pricing depends on depth, length, pipe diameter, material, access for machinery and whether the damaged section is under a driveway, a building or a garden. That needs a CCTV survey first, which is exactly why we survey before quoting repairs.

Would rather just talk to someone?

Most drainage problems are quicker to diagnose in a two-minute conversation than in a form. Call us and describe what you are seeing.
