Drainage services
Clearing, camera inspection, jetting, root removal and repair — carried out by drainage tradespeople, with the cause identified rather than guessed at.
Blocked Drains Auckland provides six core drainage services across the Auckland region: drain unblocking, CCTV drain surveys, hydro-jetting, drain repair and relining, 24/7 emergency drainage, and tree root removal. Most jobs start as a blockage and, where the drain has blocked before, move to a camera inspection so the underlying cause can be identified before any repair is quoted.
Slow, gurgling, backed-up or overflowing — we clear it and tell you what caused it, so you know whether it will come back.
Learn more →A camera down the line shows exactly what is there and how far along. You see the footage, not just our word for it.
Learn more →High-pressure water scours the pipe wall clean of fat, sludge and fine roots — not just punching a hole through the middle.
Learn more →When the pipe itself is the problem, we fix it — excavated repair, or a relined section without digging your driveway up.
Learn more →Wastewater surfacing, a toilet that will not clear, a gully overflowing in the rain. 24 hours, 7 days, across Auckland.
Learn more →Root cutting to clear the line now, plus a camera check to find the crack or joint the roots came in through.

| What you are seeing | Most likely need |
|---|---|
| One sink or basin draining slowly | Local blockage — often clears with basic unblocking |
| Several fixtures affected at once | Blockage in the shared line — drain unblocking |
| Outside gully trap overflowing | Blockage downstream of the house — unblocking, possibly jetting |
| Same drain blocks every few months | CCTV survey to find the cause before spending more on clearing |
| Blockage returns after root cutting | Root removal plus a survey to find the entry point |
| Grease and sludge in a commercial kitchen line | Hydro-jetting on a maintenance cycle |
| Survey shows a cracked or dropped pipe | Repair or relining |
| Wastewater surfacing right now | Emergency callout — stop using water and call |
| Buying a property with mature trees | Pre-purchase CCTV drain inspection |
Start with the symptom, not the service. A drain that has blocked once and never before usually just needs clearing. A drain that blocks repeatedly needs a camera down it before anyone spends money on repairs. A drain that has collapsed needs excavation or relining. If you are unsure, describe what is happening and we will tell you which of these it is — that call costs nothing.
Rodding pushes flexible rods along the pipe to punch through a soft blockage — quick, cheap, and often enough. An electric eel or drain machine spins a cutting head, which handles firmer obstructions and light roots. Hydro-jetting fires water at high pressure through a specialised nozzle, scouring the full pipe wall rather than boring a hole through the middle of the blockage. Jetting costs more and is the right answer for fat build-up, silt and heavier root masses.
No. For a straightforward first-time blockage it is usually unnecessary. A survey earns its money when the drain blocks repeatedly, when you are about to spend real money on a repair, when you are buying the property, or when you need evidence for an insurer or a landlord. We will tell you when we think it is not worth it.
Often, yes. Relining installs a resin liner inside the existing pipe and cures it in place, which repairs cracks and seals root entry points without excavating the full run. It suits pipes that are cracked or leaking but still structurally continuous. A fully collapsed or badly deformed pipe usually has to be excavated. A CCTV survey is what tells us which situation you are in.
Describe the symptoms and we will point you at the right service — including telling you when you do not need the expensive one.
