This policy explains what personal information we collect when you contact Blocked Drains Auckland, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it under the Privacy Act 2020.
Last updated: 19 August 2026
This policy applies to Blocked Drains Auckland (“we”, “us”, “our”) and to blockeddrainsauckland.co.nz. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 and its thirteen Information Privacy Principles.
We only collect information we actually need in order to respond to a drainage enquiry and arrange work. That is usually:
We do not ask for and do not want your bank login details, passwords, or any government identity numbers. If you send us information we did not ask for, we will delete it.
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to understand how visitors find and use the site, so we can improve it. This can include your approximate location (city level), the pages you view, the search term or link that brought you here, and general device information such as browser and screen size.
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time. The site will still work, but some measurement will be incomplete. Most browsers explain how at their own help pages, and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner publishes general guidance on online privacy.
The phone number shown on this website may be a tracking number that connects straight through to us. This lets us see which pages and campaigns generate enquiries. When you call, we may record the number you dialled from, the time and length of the call, and which page you were on.
Calls may also be recorded for quality and training purposes. If a call is being recorded you will be told at the start of the call, and you can ask us not to record it — just say so and we will turn it off.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not send marketing emails to people who have not asked for them.
We share your information only where it is necessary:
We keep enquiry records for two years, and records of completed work — including invoices and any CCTV footage — for seven years, which is the retention period that applies to our business and tax records. After that we delete or securely destroy them, unless there is an ongoing dispute or claim that requires us to keep them longer.
Personal information is held in access-controlled systems, and only people who need it to do their job can see it. Our website is served over HTTPS. No system is completely secure, so if there is ever a privacy breach that is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner as required by the Privacy Act 2020.
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask us to:
Email contact@blockeddrainsauckland.co.nz or call 09 555 6666. We will respond within 20 working days. There is no charge for a reasonable request.
Tell us first — see our Complaints Policy. If we cannot resolve it, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner, which investigates privacy complaints in New Zealand free of charge.
If we change how we handle personal information we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will be highlighted on the page for at least 30 days.
Call us and describe what the drain is doing. If it is not something we can help with, we will tell you who can.
